September News!

Happy Fall, dance families! The months of September through November are full of activity here at the studio, and the TCSD Parent Guild wants YOU to be part of it.

We recently held our first meeting of the year, and it was fabulous to see some new faces alongside returning parents.  If you’re the type of parent who gets involved in your child’s school PTO/PTA, then you already know some of the reasons why getting involved with the Guild is so important. Attending a meeting is a great way to learn more about things that have been happening at the studio and what plans and projects are underway.  If you missed the meeting, here are some dates to mark on your calendar:

Nutcracker Open Auditions (ages 3+)—Saturday, September 23, 1:00 p.m.

•Moe’s Restaurant Night Fundraiser—Wednesday, September 27, 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. (See flier below)

•September Parent Guild Meeting—Thursday, September 28, 6:30-7:30 p.m.; come for the hour or leave when you need to. Infants and small children welcome!

Nutcracker Program Ad Sales—Deadline for all ad forms and money is Saturday, October 14. (Forms available at the studio)

•ISU Homecoming Parade—Saturday, October 21, 10:00 a.m. step-off (Participant sign-up sheet on the Guild bulletin board)

•Land of Sweets Tea—Sunday, November 5, 2:00-4:30 p.m., Bloomington Country Club

•Barnes & Noble Book Fair Fundraiser—Sunday, November 12, 1:00-5:00 p.m. (Volunteer sign-up sheet on the Guild bulletin board)

•Schnuck’s eScrip Cards—Ongoing; pick up a free card at the studio and sign up online any time to start earning money for TCSD with every purchase!

Also stay tuned for upcoming information about fall apparel sales, our Coffee Hound coffee fundraiser, team-building activities, fall raffles, and chances to win fun prizes.

As always, thanks for your support—working together helps make TCSD the best place to learn and dance!

Welcome to Moe’s!

Welcome Back, Dancers!

Classes for the 2017-18 season at Twin Cities School of Dance starts this week! Last Thursday, TCSD was a hub of activity as families completed registration and shopped for dance wear and shoes in the Dancingly Yours boutique. If you haven’t been in the studio for a while, you’ll notice some exciting changes, including our newly redesigned website (and online payment system), a new look at the front desk, and enhanced storage in our waiting room.

Check out the recent photos below, and be sure to look at the Parent Guild bulletin board whenever you’re in the building. Every TCSD parent is automatically included in the Guild, which is a group similar to a school PTO. Our first meeting of the year is coming up on August 31 at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see you there!

Thank You, TCSD Bakers!

The 2017 farmers’ market bake sale was a huge success! We sold out of almost everything, and brought in approximately $400 in sales. It was also a beautiful day to make contact with prospective dance families and share some info about our studio. We handed out fall schedules and Nutcracker info, and provided children with stickers and Nutcracker coloring sheets

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped out by baking items or staffing our booth—we couldn’t do it without our wonderful and generous volunteers!

Bake Sales and Music Festivals: It Must Be Summer!

This Saturday, June 24, is jam-packed with activity, and we know you don’t want to miss it! Between 7:30 a.m. and noon, stroll the Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market on the Courthouse Square. Twin Cities School of Dance will be having a bake sale there as the week’s designated nonprofit organization! We’re located at Center and Jefferson, right by the Kids’ Zone activities.

Then, from noon to 4:00 p.m., head to Uptown Normal for the free music festival Make Music Normal. TCSD will have a booth there, too, featuring dance performances and children’s music/dance activities.

It’s a great time to support the studio and the performing arts!

Time to Vote!

Once again, it’s time to go to for their Best of Readers’ Choice Awards contest to cast your daily vote for Twin Cities School of Dance in the category of Best Dance Studio!

If you’re new to the school, here are just a few reasons why TCSD deserves your vote: Classes for all ages and abilities, from the littlest ones through adult, and for both serious dancers and those who just pursue it recreationally; 100% nonprofit arts organization offering ballet, lyrical, modern, tap, hip-hop, musical theater, and more; a long history of dance education and quality performances, including The Nutcracker Ballet, now in its 36th year; most classes taught by people who have already earned dance degrees and/or worked as professional dancers; a tradition of community outreach opportunities.

Voting goes through June 13. Thanks for supporting the arts!

Summer at the Studio

Hello, summer! Twin Cities School of Dance is just coming off of a fabulous spring season—the annual recital, the second annual Spring Gala Repertory Performance, the beautiful Cinderella ballet, a TV appearance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and an all-school dance party to cap off the year. Be sure to check out the photo gallery below!  And thank you again to everyone who helped volunteer at these fun events—we couldn’t do it without you!

Summer may be quieter than other times of the year, but there are still a host of events coming up—fundraisers with Orange Leaf and the Normal Cornbelters, a bake sale, a free music festival, our library summer reading event—in addition to our program of classes and workshops. Stop by the studio and take a look at the Guild bulletin board, sign up to bake for our June 24th sale at the Farmers’ Market, and pick up a Schnuck’s Rewards Card to benefit our nonprofit dance school.

Happy dancing!

Thank You, Dancers!

Mark your calendars for two special events at Miller Park Pavilion on Saturday, May 13! At 1:30 p.m. is a performance by our lyrical Repertory Company, followed by a dessert buffet for our Spring Gala. Tickets are $10, and are available from Repertory dancers or at the studio.

Then, from 4:00-6:00, put on your dancing shoes and celebrate the end of the school year with a FREE dance party for all our TCSD dancers and their families! Check out the details below, and be sure to RSVP by May 6th if you are attending.

The info-packed Guild bulletin board!

•Spring Apparel: Orders are in. Please stop by the Front Desk and pick up your Cinderella and/or recital t-shirts.

•Hy-Vee Flower Bouquets: We are taking orders for flowers for spring ballet and spring recital. All orders will be by pre-sale only; no bouquets will be available to purchase at Braden Auditorium. You can pick up an order form (yellow or blue, color-coded by show) at the studio; orders are due April 15.

We will talk about spring and summer events and opportunities (including some new FREEBIES and exciting changes coming your way!), plan for the new year, and vote on open officer positions. In addition, we will draw our spring raffle winner for a $50 gift card to Dancingly Yours!

•Have you tried the tasty and convenient meals from Prep, Freeze, Cook yet? We will be holding a fundraiser at their shop on Oakland Avenue (off of Towanda-Barnes Rd., near Ovation Cinema) Thursday, April 20, from noon-7:00 p.m. TCSD will receive 20% of all purchases that day, no fliers needed. What’s Happening This Spring!

It may look like winter outside, but spring is happening here at Twin Cities School of Dance! Tickets are on sale now at the Braden Auditorium Box Office for the Cinderella ballet on May 5th, and the spring recital, Sleep, Eat, Dance, Repeat, on May 6th. And that’s not all: the second annual Repertory Company Performance & Spring Gala is fast approaching on May 13th; stay tuned for ticket details, as well as details about an end-of-year all-school dance party!

On the fundraising front, we are having a restaurant fundraiser at the South Veterans Panera on Thursday, March 16, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Just show your Panera flier (electronic or hard copy) and TCSD will get a percentage of the sales—easy, and a great way to grab a good dinner for your dancer while helping out our nonprofit school.

Fundraisers like our restaurant nights help the school with production expenses, teacher needs, studio upkeep, and fun extras. One new offering is an “Oops! I forgot!” box now available in the studio office for those times your dancer is caught by surprise needing some basic personal items—hair ties, feminine products, etc. The items are free, compliments of the school; all we ask is that if you find yourself benefitting from the service that you perhaps donate an item or two to restock as supplies become depleted.

Thanks for your ongoing support of the arts!
